Rules

All ants see the same immutable tick-start world, before this tick’s decay, deposits, movement, pickups, or drops.

One Lua policy controls a fixed population of ants on a finite axial hex grid.

The objective of the game is to collect food, and maximise it's yield within 1500 moves.

Terrain

Terrain is a map consisting of following tile types; grass (no food, passable) or rock (no food, impassable), and food: sugar, fruit.

Food

A tile may hold sugar and at most one indivisible fruit of weight at least 2. pickup with food = "fruit" attaches an empty-handed ant to that tile’s fruit. The fruit remains visible on the tile. carrying == "fruit" means attached, even when fewer ants than the weight are attached. There is no attachment cap; attachments persist until dropped. Drop detaches only the acting ant.

Pheromones

Pheromones can be broadcasted on tiles across eight independent channels with integer IDs from 0 to 7, with no built-in meanings, with their signal strength determined on a scale between 0..255. Their signal amplitude decreases with each tick.
